Frida Štefanková
Frida Štefanková belongs to a young generation of artists whose talent has attracted attention from an early age. She has been creating art since childhood, driven not only by enthusiasm but also by a strong sense of purpose and vocation.
After successfully completing her studies in stone sculpture at the Jozef Vydra School of Applied Arts in Bratislava, she continued her artistic education at the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica, where she is currently pursuing studies in the Department of Intermedia, Digital Media and Space-Time Arts (IDM-PT).
As part of her university studies, she spent a year in Spain through the Erasmus programme at the Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche, gaining valuable international experience and broadening her artistic horizons.
Her work encompasses a wide range of artistic disciplines, particularly sculpture, drawing and printmaking. Remarkably, she achieved commercial success with her artworks while still a secondary-school student. During this period, she also began participating in smaller sculpture symposia and artistic gatherings throughout Slovakia.
Four years ago, upon the recommendation of Dr. Ľuboš Hriň and Associate Professor Igor Benca, she joined the Habura Sculpture Symposium as its youngest participant. Initially, she worked alongside established academic sculptors as an apprentice and assistant, gaining practical experience and developing her artistic skills within the symposium environment.
Before long, however, she found her own artistic voice and space. In the most recent edition of the symposium, she was already creating her own sculpture as an equal participant among the professional artists.
Frida sees her future firmly within the world of artistic creation. Her development over recent years, particularly within the context of the Habura symposia, suggests that her name is likely to become increasingly prominent on the Slovak contemporary art scene.
Combining technical skill, creative curiosity and a strong personal commitment to artistic expression, she represents one of the promising emerging voices of her generation.
