Oto Bachorík
Oto Bachorík was born on 25 March 1959 in Bratislava into an artistic family. His father was a graphic artist and his mother a ceramic artist. After graduating from the School of Applied Arts, he naturally continued his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, where he studied sculpture under Professor Ladislav Snopek.
Upon completing his studies, he embarked on his artistic career with characteristic energy and determination. His talent for teaching and mentoring found expression in the organisation of international sculpture symposia in Banská Štiavnica, which gained recognition for their high professional and educational standards.
Bachorík has two lifelong passions that also serve as a source of relaxation and inspiration. His love of water developed into a passion for fishing, a theme that frequently appears throughout his artistic work. His second passion was travelling, particularly to high mountain regions around the world. It was this enthusiasm for exploration that eventually led to a serious injury, which slowed the pace of his artistic production for a period of time.
Among artistic materials, he has a particular affinity for bronze, mastering its possibilities in both intimate and monumental sculpture. One of his notable public works can be found on Michalská Street in the historic centre of Bratislava.
